What to Bring

Proper attire includes grey umpire pants, SEMUC T shirt (provided at registration), black or black/white non marking shoes, umpire hat.   All students should bring complete umpire gear for working the plate & bases each day, including but not limited to: mask, chest protector, shin guards, plate shoes & any other protective equipment that might normally be used.  If you do not have plate gear there will be some provided for everyone’s use.

Course Overview: 

Optional Friday night Classroom – Feb 2nd (additional $25, not included in the 2 day camp cost)

THE INSIDE PITCH – With the over whelming success we are offering this optional class again.  This session will take place from 6 pm – 930 pm at the school.  Dinner will be provided.  SEMUC staff will have an interactive umpire session on several topics: TBA – We are still Finalizing details and speakers.  This session is for new umpires to veterans.  COST $25

The SEMUC weekend is: 2 days, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. SEMUC classroom & field work with an additional class on Friday. See current Student Camp Information page.  This will take place at Southgate High School.   Students will be divided up into groups according to experience level, however each group will attend the same sessions. Field work will consist of exercises that will be drills to teach proper mechanics such as proper stance, voice control, ball and strike, safe and out calls, and proper positions on the field. We will cover the correct method to handle players and situations and the use of umpire equipment. Every phase of umpiring is covered during the camp. Field work will conclude at 5:00 p.m on Saturday.

The camp weekend includes:

The cost for the 2024 camp is as follows:

High School Students early bird is $125.00 until Dec 1.  After that the rate will change to $175.00.

Rates for non students:  $200.00 early bird until Nov 30th ** EARLY BIRD PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED BY Nov 30th in FULL.

$250 from Dec 1st – Dec 31st.
